Council Post: Disaster Recovery: It’s Not Just For Disasters Anymore | Forbes
In today’s technology-driven world, it’s no surprise that recent innovation has pushed the evolution of the traditional DR plan into a new form of efficiency. Cloud-based DR, aka Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS), has dramatically reduced the time it takes to recover IT systems (Recovery Time Object, or RTO) from days to hours or minutes, while at the same time reducing the amount of data that is lost in a recovery (Recovery Point Objective, or RPO) from days or weeks to seconds. This has opened entirely new uses for the investment in IT-DR. Today’s DRaaS is like a Swiss army knife, a tool to solve many problems! Think of it as a resiliency tool to handle not only a cataclysmic disaster, but also smaller disruptions and planned changes as well.
